"Spokesman Scandal" is the fifth episode of Season Two of Superstore, and the sixteenth episode of the show overall.

Summary[]

The company spokesman is accused of crimes, Amy and Jonah dare each other, Glenn worries about employee drug use.

Plot[]

S02E04-Kyle grey face

Totally believable.

The company spokesperson, Kyle the Cloud 9 Cloud is shown in a news broadcast that Jonah, Amy, Glenn, Dina and Garrett are watching. (♫ 2 Unlimited - Get Ready For This ♫) It's reported that Kyle killed and ate fourteen Cloud 9 customers. Glenn asks Amy to turn the TV off but she ends up putting the show on all the in-store TVs. Glenn tries to turn it off but puts the audio on the store P.A. system for all customers to hear. To drown out the disturbing news, Glenn leads the others in a Christian song. (♫ Cry Ezekiel Cry ♫)

SS10

I noticed you.

In the Break Room, Jeff Sutton informs everyone of the accusations against Kyle. Glenn believes Kyle is innocent as he met him at a conference and found him to be a good guy. Many Kyle items are shown around the store. (♫ Hall & Oates - Maneater ♫) The Kyle items need to be removed from the store including a mural which Amy and Jonah are painting over. Cheyenne is showing Garrett and Sandra a lot of photos of her baby Harmonica. Mateo approaches them and asks if any of them picked up on any tension between him and Jeff. He believes that Jeff may be into him which evokes laughs and teasing. Glenn learns that they found marijuana at Kyle's house so he believes this provides an excuse for his crimes.

S02E04-Amy as Kyle the Cloud

I'm hungry!

In the Stock Room, Jonah and Amy are throwing away more Kyle items including an outfit. Jonah dares Amy to wear it into the store and when she refuses, calls her a chicken. She relents and walks into the store to the horror of the customers. (♫ 50 Cent - In Da Club ♫) Mateo approaches Jeff who asks Mateo to clean up vomit in the ladies' dressing room and touches his arm. Mateo tries to read into the gesture but can't. Glenn tells Amy and Jonah that Kyle was killing people because he was high. They say that if this were true, half the employees would be killers. Glenn is shocked that some of his staff may be high. Sandra and Garrett have had enough of Cheyenne constantly showing them baby pictures.

S02E04-Cody its cool

Brett said it's cool.

Acting on Amy and Jonah's employee drug use allegations, Glenn goes into the Stock Room and starts to sniff Cody. Dina sees him doing this and Glenn asks her if they should start drug testing the staff. Dina is very enthused and tells Cody she's coming for him. Amy has dared Jonah to stay in a freezer. In the Break Room, Dina announces the drug testing and demands urine samples. Cody is very nervous and makes an excuse that he already asked to leave early. Jonah now dares Amy to sing the theme song from "Charles in Charge" over the P.A. system in both English and Spanish. Jeff asks for Mateo's number which he mistakes for his phone number but Jeff wants his employee number for a commendation for mopping up vomit.

S02E04-Adam checks out Jonah

He's weird.

Amy and Jonah ride a kayak on wheels through the store and tell Jeff they are product testing. (♫ Dirty Audio - Blackout ♫) Glenn has second thoughts about the drug testing when he finds out Dina wants to fire those that fail. Garrett yells at Cheyenne to stop talking about her baby. She's OK with it and makes fun of him talking about his sneakers all the time. Jeff tells Mateo he's leaving and asks him if he'd like to get dinner. Mateo thinks Jeff wants him to get dinner for him so Jeff has to pointedly ask Mateo on a date. Mateo can't wait to tell Garrett he was right about Jeff's interest in him but Jeff says he needs to keep it quiet due to Jeff being management. Amy helps Glenn talk through the drug testing situation and he orders Dina to stop the tests much to Cody's relief. The final dare has Jonah wearing only an apron into the store. He shows Amy but doesn't notice her husband Adam is with her until it's too late.
